Etiquette 101

On Tuesday, the young women were able to get some hands-on experience with table etiquette. We talked about the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to table manners. For example, putting elbows on the tables is not appropriate: True or False? False! You might be surprised to learn that although putting your elbows on the table while everyone is eating is NOT appropriate. Placing your elbows on the table once everything is cleared is okay especially if you are showing interest in a conversation.
We began the evening by handing each of the girls a plate, cup, napkin and utensils. They were asked to set the table in the way they felt was right. It was great to see the girls talking, sharing and working together in order to set the table in the most presentable fashion. Once they were satisfied with the way it looked, we all sat down and enjoyed some delicious pizza! While sitting at the table we were able to discuss proper etiquette. By the end of the night, the young women were able to share something new they learned about etiquette and how they should apply it to their professional experience in the future. Not only that, but they will get to put their etiquette knowledge to the test next week. Our last week with these ladies will be spent at a local restaurant, Rex 1516. We are excited to share this evening with the young women as they will become certified in the Diamond Daughter Corporation Professional Prep.
