WE DID IT!!
For the past 6-weeks, the Mighty Writers South Philadelphia location has been hosting the Diamond Daughter Corporation, where we shared our Professional Prep Curriculum with an inspiring group of young ladies. Though they might only be in 7th to 10th grade, they impressed us with their maturity, grand ideas and phenomenal feedback each week. These ladies left us in awe with each response to their workbook questions. On Tuesday November 14th, a limo donated by the Cancer Treat

Etiquette 101
“Elegance is the only beauty that never fades” Audrey Hepburn On Tuesday, the young women were able to get some hands-on experience with table etiquette. We talked about the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to table manners. For example, putting elbows on the tables is not appropriate: True or False? False! You are Your Own Billboard
Your Own Billboard? What does that even mean? Well just like a billboard above Times Square or the Los Angeles 405 Freeway, you are advertising a product or broadcasting a message. You, Me, Us are sending a message about who we are and where we want to be. On Tuesday, the young women at the DDC workshop conducted a small fashion show, allowing the girls to show what they would wear for a high school interview, work interview, night out with the family, and date night. Failure IS an Option
So many times, we are told that failure is NEVER an option but this cannot be further from the truth. Failure CAN and IS an option as long as we keep trying and working towards our goal. For example, Oprah, she faced possible failure over and over because she is a woman, the color of her ski

You are a Super Woman!
The evening started with a quick check-in from the group and flowed into our favorite part of the night, “What’s your Power Pose?”. For this ice-breaker activity we watched a short clip about how standing with your hands placed on your hips for about two minutes can you give you a new-found confidence. The Mighty Writers is a great program located with

DDC within the Community
On Tuesday October 2nd, our Founder Angela Deery, was invited by the Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program to sit and chat with a group of young women from George Washington Carver High School for Engineering and Science. It was a great experience for both DDC and the young women in the group. Angela had an open discussion about resumes and cover letters. She was able to give a sample of both documents and talk about the importance of having a complete resume and cov

Welcome Diamond Daughters!!
We are so happy to get things started, it has been a long time coming. Let us begin by saying “Thank you!”, we would not have been able to do this without the support of our friends, family, the DDC board members, and the team which is continuing to grow with us. Our pilot program is set to begin on October 10th with the Mighty Writers located in South Philadelphia. The DDC could not be more excited for this opportunity to showcase our program and work with the young women wi
